Lady Boy

Ok i'm gonna tell you something I probably shouldn't... sooooo i'm not really into this whole fashion streetstyle blogging thang. I'm a little self-conscious about my current weight and i'm a comfort dresser so as much as I do love fashion, buying and wearing it, it's not like i'm going to be in contention for any best dressed lists anytime soon. When shooting for the blog, I always take my time shooting with Sinead - looking for the best location and light, but with myself I just wanna get in and get out - back to the comfort of my role behind the camera.

Sinead loves it though, and I enjoy shooting her, but I actually really relish my more career driven posts. So I think we will need to reassess how we do things here at CC&SIN. Focus on our strengths and what motivates us.  But don't worry, you'll still see my pink head all over the shop - it just won't be as streetstyle-y as say this post.

Enough about that shizzle - let's talk about the clothes already. So usually, I dress like a boy. If I could have a wardrobe entirely made up of jeans and expensive shirts i'd be the happiest little vegemite. But lately, something has happened, something has changed. It may be a sub-conscious reaction to the pink hurr. All of a sudden, I kinda like dressing like a lady! Weeeeird! Dresses, full skirts, floral and heels - wtf!? So after Sinead bought this striped skirt from Sportsgirl, I went and bought it too (we often buy the same clothes, BFF's - duh). We wear it completely differently but I dig it. Clashed with some leopard print for a dressier look or dressed down with an adidas tshirt and slides for something a bit for low key. I ended up wearing this look to my 10 year reunion at the races and I felt comfortable and feminine. Perfect.

Should we take a second to acknowledge my beautiful new Status Anxiety handbag. Ugh. Dead. I've been lusting after it for a looong time and finally bit the bullet. It's the most amazing leather and an Australian brand - i'm all about supporting our local industry as you know.

Where's my Muu Muu?

There's a fashion combo I find myself coming back to time and time again - a button up shirt/blouse, jeans and heels. I'm low maintenance and comfort is EVERYTHING also important which basically means I just want to spend my days being Homer Simpson in a muu muu and a floppy cap. BUT I work in fashion and a muu muu is not sexy darling so I upgrade to the modest yet classic jeans and shirt duo. However, when I walk out the door in a pair of skinnies, a silky slightly unbuttoned blouse, a lip and a heel I feel anything but modest - I feel confident and sexy. That is until I realise I have lipstick all over my teeth. Ahhh but one must try right?

Loving the lace detail on this blouse by Madlove. Comfortable, a little sexy and black. Tick.

We Do

Guys we did it. On a chilly but sunny afternoon in the gypsy hills of Byron Bay, Sinead and I committed our lives to each other by saying "I do". With only our most loved ones by our side (our boyfriends), we downed tequila and danced until the early dawn in celebration of our official blogging union.

So without further ado, may we please present.... Mr & Mrs CC&SIN.

(insert loud applaud and whistles here).

So after our union we would have enjoyed nothing more than a relaxing and cocktail filled honeymoon where we ate more than our bodies could handle and covered our shame with designer kaftans. But us workin gals had to get straight back to it and our little blog here had to be temporarily put on the back burner.

Last week was one of Carlene's busiest weeks of the year so far shooting 2 fashion campaigns (check insta for some sneak peaks @studioflamingo), a corporate shoot and an album cover shoot for a rock band. Add into the mix a pile of editing the size of Texas and you've got one sleepless lass.

Sinead received her first drop from her new collection, Panthera, from the manufactures - so after the initial squeals of excitement subsided she then began the tedious task of sorting and preparing orders, quality control, updating the website and online shop, invoicing and also had to prepare for a trip to Sydney to visit stockists.

Hey, nobody said following your dreams would be easy. Nobody said you would be really well rested and stress free. Nobody said you'd be rich. But fuck we're happy, and together we feel unstoppable.

Ex-Boyfriend

This post started innocently enough but quickly turned a bit Miley when I started pashing my ex-boyfriend. Don't judge me, we've all been there... or um no, you haven't pashed an inanimate object? Well dudes, if Miley has taught us anything it is this - 1. pash anything and everything and 2. then gyrate on said object. Luckily for you I decided not to post the pictures from Miley's number 2 rule...

The generous cool kids at Ksubi sent me these rad Skeleton sunnies after I won a little insta competition. So stoked cause they're like TOTALLY FRIKKEN AWESOME!

The Stepford Wife

Feeling a little 'Stepford Wives' in this ensemble by Wilde Willow and you know...I kinda like it! It's not often that I indulge my girly side but maybe I should kick up my heels more often?!

Happy Hump Day kittens.

Dapper as F***

Years of listening to my Dad talk incessantly about his Sunday golf must have had more of an impact on my psyche than I initially had realised because this ensemble looks like it would be right at home on the PGA Tour. Not complaining though, just pass the brandy because i'm feeling dapper as f***!

P.S. Look at me go giving all those standard blogger posers a real nudge!

Dazed

Jacket: 4th and Bleeker for Billabong |  Dress: Amilita | Sunglasses: Arnette | Jewellery: Hunter Gatherer | Shoes: Witchery

I remember the day I first laid eyes on these pink Arnette sunglasses. I was down the coast from Sydney, holidaying with my best friends family. It was the year 2000 and I was 14. We wandered into a surf store and I saw these pink beauties staring up at me from a glass shelving unit. It was love at first site. They were my first fashion love affair and created a burning desire deep within that would spawn a plethora of fashion related affairs. I didn't care about the cost or how many hours I had to work in the local fish and chip shop to afford them. Eventually they were mine and I wore them with pride, needless to say I thought I was pretty major. I thought it fitting to feature them here in my first outfit post as the accessory that started it all.

I am currently enjoying a passionate love affair with this denim jacket from the 4th and Bleeker for Billabong collection. It's my favourite Winter companion - we go to the movies, for beers at the pub, for strolls along the beach and sometimes for a round of putt putt. It just feels so right, ya know?
